A flock of sheep grazed during the summer in the meadows surrounding the lake. They were quietly grazing the grass when a black ram appeared, leaving them all pregnant. When the lamps were born they were all black.

Next year, the lamps, which were already grown-up, were left again in open meadows. And the black ram appeared again, but this time, when he saw the black sheep, he let out a pitiful cry and they all died at the same time. They dead sheep were his daughters. Since then the lake has been known as Mal (the evil)
