Description

Mining was an important economic activity in the region at the end of the 19th century and throughout the 20th century, and specifically in the municipality of Das, with the lignite mining operations of Sanavastre and manganese in the area known as Pardinella, in the Creueta mountain range, in the Tossa mountain. Witness this activity is the existence of the chapel of Santa Bàrbara, built in 1902, patron saint of miners.

Its location next to the old road that leads from Das to Valira and Urús, would indicate a probable origin in a road chapel, of which there are several examples in the region, dedicated to patron saints and which had to be adapted. to the beliefs and needs of a profession surrounded by numerous dangers.
